2024 was a year of steps forward, literally and figuratively, for footpath.ai. From bustling city centers to serene regional towns, our journey brought us closer to building a human-centered map of the world. With over 100,000 images captured across 18 cities and 12 countries, we’ve contributed to rethinking how streets are mapped, how we view cities as places to live, and how urban spaces can be redesigned with humans in the center.

Every mapped sidewalk, tree, and bench adds to a vision for more walkable, accessible, and inclusive cities. In 2024 alone, we mapped over 25,000 trees, nearly 3,500 pedestrian crossings, and thousands of other urban features. These are not just data points; they’re the building blocks of better cities.
Data That Trains the Future
Beyond mapping, the data we collect serves another crucial purpose: training AI models. With high-resolution, street-level imagery and precise mapping, we are providing datasets that can teach AI systems to recognize and analyze urban infrastructure. From detecting obstructions on sidewalks to identifying areas with insufficient greenery or poor accessibility, this data is invaluable for advancing AI applications in urban planning, navigation, and sustainable city development. It’s a step toward smarter cities powered by better AI.
