Artificial intelligence is shaping our future in many different ways. ChatGPT is only one example. AI has been at work in the mapping industry for years for automated road detection from satellite images and detailed urban mapping with street-level imagery data.

At footpath.ai, we are building "AI at scale" capabilities for detailed street mapping with a specific focus on pedestrians 🚶‍♀️ and walkability. We are tackling challenges related to quickly training AI models at a global scale using thousands (for now and millions in the future) of high-resolution panoramic images and applying them to even larger imagery datasets to map out the walking infrastructure across the 🌏.

This is only possible thanks to recent advancements in AI and computer vision. We train and run our AI models on NVIDIA GPU-powered ☁ cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

We've been working with Transport for NSW as part of the City Revatilisation Innovation Challenge 2.0 to further develop and trial our DeepWalk™ technology for detailed mapping of the walking infrastructure and the street furniture in Sydney CBD, taking urban mapping to a whole new level.
